Summary

A 36-year-old male software employee approached nSure Healthy Spine with prolonged lower back pain (LBP) for nearly 3 months. As demanded by the profession, the client used to spend 8-10 hours at the desk. The client had no medical history and no history of spinal injuries. Below provided is an entire case of how we dealt with initial spinal assessments, pretreatment findings, the treatment given, and the outcome.

The Critical Zone: Initial Patient Condition

The patient, a software employee spending 8-10 hours at a desk, presented with:

  • Persistent lower back pain (LBP) for over three (3) months
  • Inability to sit for more than 15 minutes without discomfort
  • Pointed pain at the right side of the lower back

The nSure Zone: Comprehensive Assessments

Upon initial consultation, our expert spine therapists conducted detailed evaluations to understand the root cause.

ASSESSMENT FINDINGS

  • Postural examination
  • Lateral spinal curvature with concavity to the right
  • Right pelvic hike
  • Bilateral flat feet
  • Physical assessment
  • Restricted lumbar mobility with Schober’s test showing less than 5 CM

PRE-TREATMENT FINDINGS

  • Presence of spinal curve
  • Right-sided quadratus lumborum (QL) overactive
  • Left iliopsoas overactive
  • Decreased mobility

Treatment Given

We implemented a tailored, multi-disciplinary approach to address the patient’s condition holistically.

  • Dry needling to relieve muscle tension and reduce pain
  • Manual therapy with a special focus on restoring joint mobility and easing discomfort
  • A tailored exercise program targeting mobility, stability, and strength with specific attention given to local and global muscles of the lumbar segment and integration with the whole body.

The Outcome

POST-TREATMENT CONDITION

  • Normal lumbo sacral mobility with Schober’s more than 5CM
  • Restoration of normal spinal curve
  • Freedom from pain, with the ability to sit comfortably for extended periods
