Trends and Characteristics of Preventive Spinal Health Screening:

An Observational Analysis of 3K+ individuals with ODI-based Functional Outcomes

We are excited to share that the International Journal of Physiotherapy Research and Clinical Practice (IJPRCP) has published our thought leadership on “Trends and Characteristics of Preventive Spinal Health Screening: An Observational Analysis of 3000 Individuals with ODI-based Functional Outcomes.”

The article explores how early intervention and individualized goal-setting in spine care maximizes function and quality of life at every age. It mentions a large cohort study of 3,000 patients at a spine health center found that individualized, age-specific spinal interventions significantly improved functional status for spine-related disorders. It highlights that across all age groups, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores decreased by 37.4%, with the most robust improvement in young adults (20–29 years, 48.4%), and meaningful gains even in the oldest cohort (80–89 years, 31.0%).

Key Findings

  • The overall mean ODI score reduced from 24.53 (moderate disability) to 15.35 (minimal disability), indicating a substantial reduction in spine-related limitations.
  • Improvements were greatest in younger patients, but older adults also experienced notable gains, validating the benefit of structured, age-tailored rehabilitation.
  • The study supports an individualized, age-sensitive approach that addresses functional and postural factors for optimal spinal health and prevention of disability.
